Drum roll please… Introducing our latest Face Behind The Cards designer: Banter King! You may think it’s bold to give yourself this title, but in this case we can fully attest that he has some of the funniest cards around!

The Banter King – otherwise known as James Greenwood – is 28 years old, a self-taught graphic designer and proper Yorkshire lad. Property investor by day and card designer by night, we asked him a bit more about his journey into card making…

How did you get into making cards? Was it always something you wanted to do?

I’ve always enjoyed designing and drawing since I was very young but it wasn’t until 2016 that I started designing cards, quite by chance really. I’m a self taught graphic designer and have been for the last 5 years since I started selling my own greeting cards on eBay from my bedroom! I’m also a property investor with a portfolio of rental properties.

And it all took off from there! What’s your process behind making cards/coming up with ideas?

Well, I can sometimes sit for hours making slight adjustments to a single new design!

A perfectionist? We can certainly relate to this! Has lockdown changed the way you work at all?

Not lockdown itself but since I bought my own place last year, I’ve become much more productive and focused on my work.

Did you pick up any lockdown hobbies/do you have a recent lockdown binge watch to recommend?

No new hobbies but I did watch the full series of Killing Eve which I would recommend to anyone (Great choice James, we would too!).

What are you most looking forward to as the world goes back to normal?

I’m planning to live in Spain for 2 months at the end of this year – as long as the restriction lifting continues, that is!

I used to work my ass off as a roughneck on the oil rigs.
